Strength of creative industry is in joining forces

The potential of the creative industry in Serbia is big, and this industry just might be the one that will significantly contribute to the increase in gross domestic product. This was the conclusion at “McCann Talks” event which gathered the most relevant representatives of the creative and related industries.

Creative Director of McCann Belgrade Jana Savić Rastovac noted I&F McCann Grupa – which operates in 12 markets of North and South Europe – as an example of competitiveness of Serbian ideas, whose time is yet to come. Savić Rastovac said that the strength of the creative industry lies in the fact that the backbone of Serbian ideas is not the budget, but the ability to connect the incompatible, and thus find a place in the global arena.

Regional connections could be another key to development of the national economies of the region, said Sagor Mešković, communications director of Exit festival, which directly brings €15 million to the Serbian economy each year.

Through employment of 9,000 people in 2015, foreign film production has also contributed to the development of the Serbian economy, and the Executive Director of the Serbian Film Association Milica Božanić said that the most important thing was to demystify Serbia so it could offer all its riches, but also noted the equally important fact that you cannot compete if you don’t have institutional support.

Free development also favors the gaming industry, said the founder and owner of Eipix company Mirko Topalski, and added that ideas are equally distributed throughout the world, but the chances for their implementation are still not the same everywhere, although the situation is now much better than in the past.

In addition to the potential of creative industries, participants of “McCann Talks” also discussed stereotypes and the importance of demography in the creative industry, as well as the jobs of the future.

“McCann Talks” is the first of the planned events organized by agency McCann Belgrade in the year in which they mark 20 years of business, and its purpose is to gather in one place the most relevant representatives of the creative and related industries. This event is designed as a meeting of organizations and individuals from the world of entrepreneurship, arts, tech and entertainment, where they share their opinions and attitudes in panel discussions on topics relevant to the creative industries.
